Figuratively, the proverb advises us not to resort to precipitate action. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread was not said in vain. However brave and strong we may be we should calculate the risks on our path before taking the step A few examples will make the matter clear to us.
A man went a big sea-hunting off the West Indies without taking proper precautions. The barracudas turned his boat upside down and then got him. Another man went swimming of the coast of Northern Queensland inspite of warnings to the contrary. A shark bit his legs off.
Men are adventurous by nature. They like to sail to unknown lands and to fly into the unknown regions of the sky. They calculate the risks first and then set out on their hazardous journeys. They are the men who don not need to be told of this proverb.
It is so easy to do what we like with out caring for the consequences. When the consequences turn out differently from what we expected, we are hurt deeply. One has to be very clear about one’s next step and be thorough on the sector where he is going to enter. It should not be a decision without thought. Arrows and words once shot cannot be taken back. Repentance hardly helps one out of the situation. So better look before you leap.
