A Crying Child Gets Milk

The literal meaning of the proverb is that a child gets milk or food only when it cries. A small child cannot express its desires in words. So it informs its desires to its mother by crying. The implied meaning is that nobody is going to achieve his aim unless he demands it.

From the beginning of this century science began to progress by leaps and bounds. Often new inventions are reported. Transport of goods became easy. Big industries came into existence. The owners of the industries recruited employees in thousands giving them, small wages. The employers became rich. At this time the employees began to unite and demand better remuneration. The owners were compelled to accept their demands. As a result of it the labourers began to get better wages.

Thus the idea of the proverb is utilized by different sections of the people to achieve their aims.
